Please summarise the reasons for your opinion
The proposals to build over 20,000 new dwellings in North Hertfordshire and Stevenage, the majority of which will be on green belt or greenfield sites amount to an environmental disaster or both North Hertfordshire and Stevenage and is entirely unacceptable. The proposals for the expansion of Stevenage are totally unsustainable. The district does not have the infrastructure to sustain development of this scale in particular with regard to water resources. The proposals will inevitably result in an unacceptable increase in traffic and create chaos on our already overcrowded roads. The Plan contains insufficient provisions to ensure the infrastructure necessary for such a massive amount of development. The provision of such infrastructure would, in any event, create yet further unnecessary and unacceptable environmental damage. Allowing Stevenage to sprawl out into the surrounding countryside will be counter-productive and will seriously hinder the much-needed regeneration of Stevenage. It is unacceptable to build large numbers of houses under the flight path of Luton Airport. I agree with and adopt the more detailed representations made by CASE, the Campaign Against Stevenage Expansion.
