High Broomin Wood

High Broomin wood is an ancient woodland of most old Hornbeam coppice. The practice of coppicing hornbeam for charcoal used to be a thriving local industry and High Broomin is one of a number of local woodlands that used to be managed in this way. The wood also has some ash coppice and occasional cherry and hazel. On the woodland floor bluebells are the most abundant plants.
